T-shirt Tuesday: “Kraken Snackin’” from Threadless

Hey look, it’s another shirt from Threadless! Clearly inspired by The Pirates of the Caribbean movies, “Kraken Snackin’” depicts the fate that befalls so many unfortunate sailing vessels. There’s a lot to like about this design; the blood-red tentacles, the massive disc of the full moon, the snapping rigging lines, the tiny airborne sailor…but I think my favorite detail is the lone parrot winging its way to freedom.

Guys and Girls Tees (Asphalt Regular Fit) still available in all sizes for $20. Buy it now from Threadless!

Hey there! It’s the first post of 2011, and what better way is there to kick off a new year than with a new Threadless shirt? Here we have a grizzled and scarred mariner somberly reflecting on the Kraken that destroyed his ship…that or it’s not tobacco in that pipe!

$20 Black Regular Fit Guys Tee, still available in all sizes at this time. Buy it now from Threadless!

Also, while I’m here, I thought I should mention that the last Threadless shirt I featured–“Quick! Disguise!”–is currently on sale for a mere $10!

It took me a second to get what was going on here. At first glance, what seems like the floating head of a Bugs Bunny-esque cartoon rabbit soon reveals itself to be a giant blue octopus gripping what I imagine must be a very startled diver. This guy takes the Mimic Octopus‘ M.O. and turns it up to eleven!

Currently available in all Guys and Girly sizes for $18. Buy it from Threadless.

Truthfully, I don’t plan to get this one because it isn’t really my style, but it’s always good to see a new cephalopod-themed shirt from Threadless.com!

Tip o’ the tentacle to Jason of the Cephalopodcast for bringing this to my attention!

T-shirt Tuesday (Plush Week Edition): “Octopus” from Threadless®

I can’t decide if this shirt shows an octopus that loves his teddy bear, or one that just ate a child. (Although, I suppose there’s no reason it can’t be both.) At any rate, I tend to favor the sweet interpretation over the sinister.

This is actually a shirt that I own, but don’t have a good photo of myself wearing it (as is my custom for T-shirt Tuesday). Not yet anyway. I would have taken one today, but being sick for three days in a row isn’t particularly conducive to ones’ photogenic-ness.

“Octopus” is currently Sold Out in all sizes at Threadless, but I have a feeling they’ll reprint it eventually. Here’s the detail link so you can buy it when they do!

This design is also available as a Blik wall decal!

It’s been a while since we had a new cephalopod shirt from Threadless here on T-shirt Tuesday, and while I’m generally not a big fan of puns, this design is just so charming! Not only do we get a nice red octopus, but also a shark, eel, narwhal, and a plethora of cute little fish. Also, I can’t help but be reminded of this classic scene from Batman: The Movie!

“Plenty of Fish in the C” will run you $18 and comes in Creme in men’s, women’s sizes, and in White in kid’s and infant sizes. For two dollars more, you can even get this design on a onesie!

I have been eager to feature this particular Threadless design since I restarted ISK last year, but I was holding off on the hope that they would eventually reprint it…and now they have! Most squid v. whale scenes usually leave little doubt that the whale is going to end up with a stomach full of delicious ika sashimi, but I have a definite feeling that whale sushi is on the menu tonight!

“The Squid vs. The Whale” is $18 (on White American Apparel tee) and is, at the time of this writing, still available in all men’s and women’s sizes.

Buy it now from Threadless!

Incidentally, I first heard about this shirt on the old Squid.us blog. All cephalopod aficionados everywhere were waving their tentacles with joy on January 12 when it rose again from the murky depths. Welcome back Squid.us!

2009 Holiday Shopping Guide: Apparel!

Today’s edition of the Shopping Guide focuses on cephalopod-themed clothing, but first, here’s our regularly scheduled installment of T-shirt Tuesday

Sir Octopus

Sir Octopus

Brand new from Sir Critter (who previously brought us Sir Squid), is this dapper fellow. He’s all dressed up and ready for your office Christmas party!

Shirts start at $15.99, are available in a rainbow of color combinations, and did I mention the octopus with a moustache wearing a bow tie and flourishing a top hat? Also, there’s just two days left of their big Cyber Monday sale! All orders over $40 are 25% off.

Threadless®

Art Is My Weapon and Loch Ness Imposter are back in stock!

Both are currently on sale for $12 each (all sizes and styles).

As we know, Threadless designs sell out fast, particularly when they’re on sale, so act fast!

Squidfire.com

I’ve already featured several different Squidfire designs, but I’ve barely scratched the surface of their vast selection of cephalopod shirts. They are all currently on sale (and all in stock, as far as I can tell), so any of them would be appropriate for this list. For example, here’s the SquidFire Emblem polo. It normally costs $32, but it’s temporarily reduced in price to $27. Buy it now from Squidfire.com.

The Squidfire emblem is also available on regular T-shirts (both men’s and women’s), long-sleeved thermal shirts (men’s and women’s), and hoodies.
